Aal Ower Toorie is the official 2025 Shetland Wool Week knitting pattern, exclusively designed by the Shetland Guild of Spinners, Knitters, Weavers and Dyers. Knit the hat in any of the 3 officially suggested color variations, or choose our own Yarn Patch color combination.
The pattern pays homage to Shetland's history and knitting traditions. "Aal Ower" refers to the all-over motif, a classic Fair Isle design element. "Toorie" is a Shetland word for a hat.
Our kit includes either 6 or 8 skeins of Elemental Affects' Shetland Fingering, which is a high quality US milled yarn made from North American Shetland wool. Skein Size: 1 oz (28 grams) with approximately 115 yards each skein. The kit also includes a print out of the pattern.
Please note, the colors in our kits will not exactly match the pattern images... they are our interpretation using Elemental Affects Shetland Fingering.
